For students of all ages and ability, from beginners to black belts.
Adult Open & Junior Advanced
A dual class catering for adults of all grades from beginners to black belts, and also an advanced class for higher grade junior students, from 4th kyu & above, preparing to be assessed for brown & black belt grades.
Open Adult & Black Belt Junior
The class is open to all students aged 16 years and over and beginners are encouraged to attend. The class is suitable for adult students of all grades, from beginners to black belt. This is also a popular training class for the club instructors to train at. The class follows the Okinawan Goju Ryu syllabus followed by HDKD and all students are working towards grading assessment in the style, as with all HDKD classes. However, the age restriction allows sessions to cover a more in depth study of the martial art, with more advanced bunkai and adult only kumite.
Junior Black Belt students and those being assessed for black belt grades are also invited to attend this class.
These sessions are strictly for students of grade 6th Kyu & above, when students have a good standard of etiquette, spacial awareness and control.
We offer instruction in seven different weapons:
We hold Kobudo grading assessments, where students can grade in up to three different weapons. We also include Kobudo divisions in our twice yearly In-House Tournaments, in order to give students further focus for their weaponry study.
If you are interested in joining the Kobudo training sessions, please ask your class instructor for more information. The club has a small number of practice weapons to loan to new students in class, though students are eventually expected to purchase their own weapons to enable out of class practice. Please do not purchase any weapons without prior consultation with the Chief Instructor, Sensei Ann-Marie.
